Accredited Practising Dietitian

Public Nutrition

Nutrition Consulting for Individual Clients

Through our private practice clinics, we spend time working with you to devise individualised nutrition advice for all aspects of nutrition including general health, well being and dealing with medical issues. Consultations include a dietary assessment with written and verbal advice. Follow up consultations are provided as necessary to continue supporting your dietary and lifestyle changes and provide additional information and education. We can also undertake body composition assessment, provide individualised meal plans, give tips for cooking and shopping, and provide regular recipe updates.

Weight Loss/ Weight Control

Been there, done that? Already tried nearly every diet you can, and still you end up heavier than when you started? Whether you are new to losing weight, or have been at it for years, we can help you progress towards your weight loss or body shape goals. Our weight control program supports you in identifying key areas in your diet and / or lifestyle, then helps you to work through implementing realistic changes. We spend time working out how best to break those old habits and create new, healthier ones. We have a wide range of resources available to help you, including tips on eating on the run, travel, holding dinner parties and reading food labels. Our step by step program can be tied into a fitness regimen with the help of our recommended personal training associates. We also have special strategies for teenagers and children.

Impaired Glucose Tolerance and Diabetes

More and more Australians are now being diagnosed with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) or diabetes. Of great concern is that what was once an old person's disease, is now appearing in relatively young or middle aged individuals. It can be a frightening prospect, especially when there is a plethora of confusing information around, along with the threat of numerous long term side effects if blood glucose levels are not controlled.

As accredited practicing dietitians, we pride ourselves on keeping up to date with the current treatments and management for IGT and diabetes, and will help to clarify all the confusion. This incudes an explanation of the Glycaemic Index and Glycaemic load. We also have specialised information for those who may be pregnant, need to lose weight, or have high cholesterol / blood fat levels in addition to IGT/diabetes.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder that affects approximately 5-10% of pre-menopausal women. This results in disruptions to the menstrual cycle, failure to ovulate normally, an increased risk of developing Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. We have developed some nutritional strategies to assist in managing body weight and insulin resistance.

Heart Disease

With guidelines for ideal cholesterol levels becoming tighter, and the earlier detection of elevated blood fats or blood pressure more prominent, now is the time to get your health under control and prevent heart attacks and strokes. We can provide you with specialised advice to manage your cholesterol levels, triglycerides and blood pressure through a combination of diet and exercise management.

Gastrointenstinal Disorders

  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Coeliac disease
  • Diverticular disease
  • Hiatus hernia
  • Constipation
  • Loose bowel motions

We have a range of up to date information and eating plans to assist in the management of these uncomfortable and often debilitating problems.

Food Allergy / Intolerance

We use the latest elimination diets to assess food intolerance issues and provide lists of suitable foods and recipes once your specific problem foods have been identified. This may include salicylates, glutamates, amines, preservatives, colours, wheat, dairy, lactose or gluten.

Being Underweight

Underweight problems may relate to eating disorders, loss of appetitie due to illness/surgery/medication, restricted food preferences (fussy eaters) or inability to gain weight for sport. We can help those of any age group with tips, recipes and special supplements where required. We also work closely with a number of pyschologists and psychiatrists if further assistance of this type is advised.

Vegetarian Diets

Simply cutting out meat without thought of replacing the important nutrients that it provides is NOT the road to a healthy lifestyle! Vegetarian diets need to be well planned and balanced to provide the all the positive benefits associated with this style of eating. We can show you how with a range of alternatives and plenty of great tasting recipes.

Advice for pregnancy and breastfeeding

For many women this is a time when they pay the most attention to their nutritional intake as they prepare to give their child the best start possible in life. It is also a time of change for the mum to be who may have many questions about the best food choices.

Healthy Eating for all ages

We have a broad range of general nutrition advice for everyone from young children through to the elderly.
